In 1976 Overview This is a paperback reprint of the first edition, which appeared inpublished by British Museum Press. So far very little evidence has surfaced regarding the survival of paganism in Vandal Carthage. The volume presents the documentation produced during the above mentioned campaign: the photographs provide a complete illustration of the set of reliefs and record a state of preservation that the last conflicts have deeply altered and compromised. They are battling erosion, vandals - and controversy. At the same time, it is certainly true that nonprofessionals have made important contributions in many areas of 1976. The most important remains were the sacred compound, the monumental fortifications and gates, the impressive water systems of the site, various palaces, and the so-called 'Solomonic stables'.
